Determined To Dance

If you’ve known me, dance and the love of dance has been a part of my life since my Mom enrolled me in classes with Nardi’s Dance Studio in Easton, PA. At that time the studio was the upstairs ballroom area of the State Theatre in my home town which provided the most huge and glorious atmosphere for learning your 5 positions in ballet, your shuffle ball changes, your basic tumbling and finally the elements of jazz dance that changed my life for ever. It’s a love affair that began that day and honestly has been my most torrid on-again-off-again passion since that day.

As I sit here typing these I’m faced with two realities: I am at my heaviest weight of my life thanks to becoming a hermit from the pandemic for almost 2 years now and I am re-entering the world of creative directing for shows. Dance is going to be featured in these as they always have. In my mind a great dance number of a trio or more is a smashing opening for any showcase of talent and can always be used to set the tone. Therefore, my choreography and dancing has to come back to me…because if I want to do this the way I see it, then it’s go time. I have to push myself to get my stamina back, my muscle tone to exist again, and my ability to dance back on target because January 2023 is not far away.

I have to set my intentions and then find the motivational subjects to move me forward and what better way than to remember the pieces I’ve choreographed in the past and pieces I hope to choreograph in the future. Will you indulge me in another playlist?
